Month Number Two

On to February!

So I caught myself thinking, okay, we survived January... at least we only have a month to a month and a half left of winter!!

I don't mind the winter so much. I just really don't like driving on slick, slippery, slushy, dangerous roads. And we've had so many snow days it seems like we'll be in school forever!

Anyways.... time to zero in on my goals for this year! (or groan cuz I'm held accountable now)

1) well, in January I managed to go 70.95 miles. It won't post my graph, but here's the breakdown:
Type
January Distance
bike
25.95
elliptical
21.07
stairclimber
0.23
swim
0.5
track
2.7
treadmill
14.45
walk/jog Kensi
6.05

2) Down 2 lbs, but after some lazy days around here not sure if I'm back to square one! :-/  Gonna have to try harder on this one!

3) I have done more abdominal work!! I feel like I'm slowly working on this goal. To be increased as I regain my strength in this area.

4) I really think I've been doing better at this one. I shoveled all the sidewalks and the whole driveway because R7 had to work late and I've been working on giving Kensi more rubs and loves. Happy with my progress in this area :)

5) Yes! I have been better at this one :)  I have a dentist appt tomorrow so I guess we'll see if they notice any difference

6) Wellllll I think I've been doing better at this. We got the second hutch moved in and basically everything from Xmas is put into the guest room, although not yet put away completely. Finally got all the mail and catalogues sorted and recycled so our table is clear for the most part!! Still more to do here, but making some progress. The kitchen has been a little better and I've put away all my clean clothes. However, Kensi ripped up a couch cushion today so there was fuzz and such all around. I think she should make this goal her priority as well ;-)

Now for couch and wine with the fam :)

Ciao!

Here we go!

And so it begins...

I have thought of a couple other goals I would like to work on this year! Yes, I tend to over commit or think I can accomplish more than I can in a certain period of time... However, I think these are all in the realm of possibilities depending on how I define success and progress.

Additional goals:

5) Brush my teeth twice a day more frequently!
This may seem kind of gross to those of you out there with excellent dental hygiene; however I have a thing with toothpaste where it grosses me out a lot! And so I try to stick to only brushing in the AM and before any events... gross I know! But surprisingly everyone always compliments my teeth!

6) Keep our house from being eternally dirty due to us and the puppy (i.e. try to keep it a little cleaner and don't let a muddy puppy run around wherever she wants)

Now in terms of progress towards my goals....

I have not made any substantial progress towards 2000 miles- my current total is 8.68 miles, very low for almost two weeks into the new year but there were some extenuating circumstances this week that prevented me from getting to the gym (excuses, excuses, I know!)

I actually weighed myself in today for an official starting weight... not thrilled because those 10lbs are more like 15 lbs that I need to lose. So negative progress on goal number 2?

Getting my abs back... this would probably be much easier if I actually did ab exercises, which I did not this week. So another goal with no progress!

As far as being a better family member, I tried not to be too snippy with the hub when he informed me that I needed to take off work in order to go to something at his job, or when we had a conversation about equitable division of labor around the house (it seems like he thinks everything is my job?!?) No big fights but I probably didn't need to bring up cleaning the house as he was walking out the door this morning to go to work at 7a on a Saturday. I did exchange some nice texts with my brothers this week, which is always good. I think maybe I'll extend this goal to just being a nicer person in general to everyone, but especially to my family members because they're my closest people! However, Kensi makes me feel so guilty when I leave the house in the morning and she is peeking out the front windows with a sad face! :(

Now it's off to the gym I go in order to pick up some more miles and hopefully begin dropping some lbs!!!

Beginnings

It all starts somewhere...

I'm excited for 2014. I'm 27, turning 28 so it has all good numbers associated with it, should be an excellent year

I'm starting this blog to document my journey in 2014 to reach my goals.

So first, need to come up with some goals

1) 2000 miles in 2014--
I did 1000 in 2013, and that was a challenge, but I think could've pushed harder. So in 2014 I will go at it twice as hard. I have also decided that anything will count such as elliptical and walking the dog

2) Finally lose the 10lbs I have been wanting to lose for 2 years. If I don't do it now, I may be keeping it forever

3) Get my abs back. I used to have decent abs and a strong core, I want it back

4) Be a better family member-- as far as this goes, I think it looks like me remembering to breathe before I get snippy, showing my loves more, being nicer, etc.

I think that's it for now, more goals to come as I think of them!
